Why this newsletter exists

London is one of those cities that has a lot going on โ€” a genuinely vibrant arts scene, local sports teams people actually care about, community events that punch well above their weight โ€” but it can be surprisingly hard to find out about any of it. The information is scattered across venue websites, Facebook event pages from 2019 that may or may not still be accurate, and tourism-board roundups that somehow always recommend the same five things.

The Forest City Daily exists to fix that. Every Sunday, you get a warm, well-researched overview of the week ahead. Every weekday morning, you get a focused daily edition that tells you exactly what's on today, with actual venue details and direct ticket links. No paywalls, no brand deals, no algorithmic recommendations โ€” just genuine enthusiasm for London and a determination to make sure you don't miss anything good.

We started as a small Sunday email. Starting March 2026, we launched daily editions to complement the weekly overview โ€” so you always know what's happening whether you're planning your whole week or just deciding what to do tonight.

Meet Josiah

Hi! I'm Josiah. I've lived in London long enough to know that this city consistently undersells itself โ€” there's a genuinely vibrant arts scene, sports teams people actually care about, and community events that punch well above their weight.

I started the Forest City Daily because I kept missing things. A great show I didn't know about until it was sold out. A neighbourhood festival I walked past on the last day. An immersive theatre show that turned out to be the best thing I'd seen in years, playing to half-full houses because nobody knew it was here. The city deserves better than that, and so do you.

I work on this newsletter because I genuinely love London and I want more people to love it too. There's real warmth here โ€” in the arts community, in the sports fans, in the people who show up to the weird little events at the library on a Tuesday night. I want you to find that warmth.

When I'm not writing about events, I'm probably at one. Say hello.

On advertising

The Forest City Daily is currently entirely free and ad-free. We don't accept payment from venues or promoters to feature events, and we never will. Recommendations are based entirely on what we actually think is worth your time and money.

If you're a local business interested in sponsorship opportunities that align with our values (supporting independent arts, community events, local culture), we may open limited sponsorships in the future. Get in touch and let's talk.
